The Mottram Moor Link Road, commonly referred to as the A57 Mottram Bypass, is a major highway infrastructure project designed to relieve longstanding congestion through Mottram-in-Longdendale and improve connectivity between Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire.
Working alongside Balfour Beatty and D. Morgan plc, W&B Civil Engineering delivered critical drainage infrastructure as part of the early stages of the project.
Our scope included the installation of pre-earthworks drainage consisting of 14 piped culverts and associated reinforced concrete headwalls, designed to manage surface water across the scheme and prepare the corridor ahead of the main earthworks and carriageway construction.
Operating within a complex infrastructure environment, the works required careful programming, coordination with multiple site activities and the use of specialist plant and experienced drainage teams. The successful delivery of these installations formed an essential part of the enabling works for the wider highway scheme.
Through practical site management, experienced operatives and a strong understanding of large infrastructure programmes, W&B successfully delivered this critical drainage package supporting the progression of the Mottram Moor Link Road development.
