Phil brings over 40 years of practical civil engineering experience to W&B Civil Engineering. Beginning his career on the tools, he developed his expertise across groundworks, deep drainage and heavy civils before progressing into site leadership and ultimately co-founding the business. His hands-on background provides a clear understanding of the realities of site delivery, workforce management and what it takes to complete complex civils works safely and efficiently.
Today, Phil leads W&B with both operational and strategic oversight, guiding the company’s direction, strengthening key client relationships and ensuring sustainable long-term growth. His practical experience underpins the business’s delivery model, ensuring decisions are grounded in real site knowledge, commercial awareness and programme certainty. Phil’s reputation is built on reliability, straight talking and a commitment to doing things properly — qualities that have helped establish W&B as a trusted subcontractor across the North West and Yorkshire. Chris is a highly experienced commercial leader with over 30 years in the civil engineering sector, having built his career with two of the industry’s leading Tier One contractors before joining W&B Civil Engineering in 2015. His background spans major infrastructure, utilities and complex civil engineering schemes delivered within demanding programme and cost environments.

He brings significant experience of operating within long-term frameworks, including major programmes with United Utilities, alongside delivering large-scale projects in partnership with national contractors. This exposure has given Chris a deep understanding of NEC contracts, risk management, value engineering and the commercial controls required to successfully deliver works within regulated and performance-driven environments.

At W&B, Chris leads commercial strategy, estimating and business development. Strategic, detail-focused and commercially astute, he ensures projects are tendered competitively, managed robustly and delivered profitably — playing a central role in the company’s growth, financial stability and reputation as a trusted delivery partner across the North West and Yorkshire.

Paul brings over 30 years of experience delivering complex, multidisciplinary civil engineering projects across the UK. Beginning his career as an Apprentice Structural Engineer, he progressed through Site Engineer, Site Agent, Project Manager and Contracts Manager roles, building extensive technical and operational expertise along the way.

Today, Paul plays a key role within W&B, drawing on decades of hands-on delivery across major industrial, commercial and infrastructure schemes. His background includes leading large-value muckshift, drainage, groundworks, concrete, remediation, and roads & sewers packages for national contractors.

Calm, measured and solutions-focused, Paul is known for his clear communication and steady leadership style. He drives projects from concept through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and within budget — upholding the standards and values that define W&B.

Iain first met Phil Worrall while working on a scheme at Langthwaite Reservoir in the early 1990s. What began in 1994 has grown into a long-standing professional relationship spanning more than three decades.

Today, Iain remains a central figure within W&B as Works Manager. His commitment and consistency have played an integral role in the company’s growth and reputation across the North West and beyond.
